Uganda President and Tourism leaders hosts Miss World delegation

Early this morning, Miss World 2018/19 Vanessa Ponce was hosted by H.E. Uganda President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni at his country home in Rwakitura located 250 kilometers (156 miles) west of Uganda’s capital, Kampala.

According to Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) chief publicist Sandra Natukunda, she was accompanied by the Hon. Minister of Tourism Wildlife and Antiquities, Professor Ephraim Kamuntu, and Tourism State Minister, Hon. Godfrey Kiwanda; UTB Vice-Chair, Suzan Muhwezi; UTB CEO, Lilly Ajarova; and the reigning Miss Uganda, Quinn Abenakyo. The delegation from Miss World and the Miss Uganda Foundation were also in attendance.

The President officially welcomed the team from Miss World to Uganda and invited them to tour the country and enjoy its beauty.

On Wednesday, the Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga, and Miss Uganda guided Miss World on a visit to a Girl Child project in the Busoga region, east of Kampala, after which she toured Kagulu Hill, famed for rock climbing and scenic views of the river Nile as it drains into Lake Kyoga.

According to UTB’s Natukunda: “She was scheduled to visit Source of The Nile, but we changed the program because of the State Visit. We are pushing to extend her visit so she can travel more.”

Miss World arrived in the country on Tuesday on invitation to grace the Grand Finale of Miss Tourism Uganda as the chief guest. She was received by Quinn Abenakyo who is also reigning Miss World Africa and won the head-to-head challenge at Miss World before bagging second runner up at the pageant held last year in China.
