USA is main international focus for Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week

As part of its strategy of internationalisation, Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week continues to centre its campaign to promote the show and attract buyers, promoters and influencers on the USA which, in addition to the European countries, is the potential market of greatest interest to the brands taking part in the show due to its role as a commercial powerhouse and a global amplifier of fashion trends. Among this year’s stars is the Venezuelan-born, New York based designer Ángel Sánchez, who will be showing his collection at BBFW.

According to the report ‘Millennial Brides: Born in the 1980s; getting married today’, commissioned by the show and produced by IESE Business School lecturer, José Luis Nueno on the bridal fashion sector, the United States is one of the biggest players in the industry’s global market: with an output of 1.8 million units, it is the third largest producer of wedding dresses.

Aware of the value of the USA, BBFW has, over the last three years, secured the attendance of major North American firms such as Houghton and Naeem Khan, and this year the star is Angel Sánchez, who will be offering his first-ever show in Europe. Venezuelan by birth and based in New York, Sánchez is one of the world’s most outstanding designers of bridal and evening wear and is also a favourite of celebrities such as Beyoncé, Meryl Streep, Eva Longoria and Salma Hayek.

There will also be over 20 top brands from the USA present at the show including Justin Alexander, Morilee Madeline Gardner, Demetrios, Allure, Maggie Sottero and Sachin & Babi.

A total of 25 firms will put on fashion shows during the event: Rosa Clará will be first on the catwalk followed, up to 28 April, by major brands such as St. Patrick Studio, Studio of the Pronovias Fashion Group, making their world debut at BBFW; Jesús Peiró; YolanCris; Ángel Sánchez; Raimón Bundó; Galía Lahav; Cymbeline; Morilee Madeline Gardner, Demetrios and Pronovias to name but a few.

The show, organised by Fira de Barcelona, will take place in the Gran Via venue between 25 and 30 April. The trade fair will feature 300 brands, 65% of them international.
