Why VisitBritain Had to Create a New Executive Position

The national tourism agency for Britain, VisitBritain, announced today that it has created a new executive position and named the person who will fill this post.

Carl Walsh will be the new Senior Vice President, USA, based out of New York. It will be his job to spearhead initiatives across America and spur growth from the American market to Britain. His job will include collaborating in cross-government activities as well as the implementation of trade and communications strategies.

The USA continues to lead tourism’s recovery in the UK as VisitBritain expects the USA market to be worth £6.3 billion in 2024. It is forecasting 5.3 million visits from the USA, up 17% on 2019. Flight bookings show air passenger arrivals from the USA for April to September this year tracking 12% ahead of the same months in 2019.
