Women in Tourism International Alliance: This year didn’t turn out as we had imagined

Beverley Auerbach, representing the Women in Tourism International Alliance told eTN in her Holiday Greeting:

This year didn’t turn out as we had imagined – as the world had imagined. First Britain, now the US, and possibly other European democracies to follow in a dispiriting nationalistic trend. Globalism for many is a dirty word. But for us in tourism, globalism is the objective.

Let us embrace globalism, realizing that the inner hopes of most people are the same – the desire for peace, the opportunities to improve their lot in life, and the love and connectedness of family and friends.

It’s going to be a new road ahead with potentially drastic political changes here in the United States. We pledge to stay focused and politically aware, even as we remember that administrations come and go, and progress isn’t always in a straight line.

People matter more than places, things or ideologies. Let’s commit to advocating for all people and for general, not top-only, prosperity. The rising tide lifts all boats.

Warmth and happiness to all our tourism friends throughout the world, with a wonderful year ahead. See you online!
