ARC: US travel agency air ticket sales down nearly six percent

Airlines Reporting Corp. (ARC), the premier driver of air travel intelligence and commerce in the travel industry, reported today that the consolidated dollar value of airline tickets sold by U.S.-based travel agencies decreased nearly 4.1 percent this year as compared to 2015, totaling $74 billion vs. $77 billion.

October 2016 ticket sales were down 5.9 percent to $6.9 billion against the same month last year, while ticket transactions were up 3.6 percent at 13.7 million verses October 2015.


Electronic Miscellaneous Document (EMD) sales comprised $37.7 million of the year-to-date sales vs. $14.3 million in 2015, and $5.3 million of the October 2016 sales as compared to $2.3 million in October 2015. EMD transactions increased nearly 296 percent to 607,944 so far in 2016 vs. 37,370 in 2015.
