India celebrates first anniversary of Tourist Helpline

Wednesday, February 8, marks the first anniversary of the launch of the Tourist Helpline in India. It was started on February 8, 2016, and operates on 24/7 basis. The Helpline is offered in 12 languages – Hindi, English, French, Arabic, German, Korean, Chinese, Portuguese, Russian, Italian, Spanish, and Japanese.

Up through January 31, 2017, as many as 20,2003 people had called the toll-free helpline, 1363, to seek information on various subjects.

The helpline was set up after demand for such a service from the industry was perceived. Over 100 trained professionals man the Helpline, which is a great help for tourists to the country.

The Ministry of Tourism looks after the Helpline.
