Indian Ocean Islands show solidarity for Creole culture

The 31st edition of Festival Kreol in the Seychelles is this year taking place from October 21-31.

The Indian Ocean Islands of Reunion, Mauritius, and Rodrigues will be joined in Seychelles with many other Creole-speaking islands from the Caribbean in a rare show of solidarity for the unique Creole culture that remains so alive in these islands.

Recognizing this culture, the 31st edition of Festival Kreol in the Seychelles is this year taking place from October 21-31.

Fauzia Vitry, an elected representative of Reunion Island, landed in Seychelles on Sunday night ahead of her island’s Regional President who is expected in Seychelles on Thursday in time for the Official Opening of the 2016 edition of the Festival Kreol in Victoria.

On Monday, Madame Vitry participated in a number of activities marking the festival before being welcomed at the ESPACE Building Offices of the Ministry of Tourism and Culture for discussions centered on cooperation between the two Indian Ocean Islands.

Seychelles is a founding member of the International Coalition of Tourism Partners (ICTP).
