Kemi SnowCastle: A unique Finland travel and tourism spectacular

Over 1200 Finnish visitors and tourists enjoyed the festive atmosphere and the skillful snow-and-ice art that the talented construction team had created once again. A spectacular fireworks show was a great surprise and it was synchronized with Finlandia hymn.

We are proud to be the official partner of the Finland 100 years organisation as Finland celebrates this year its 100th anniversary. The theme of the Finland 100 celebrations is together and that could be sensed already in the opening when people form all age groups wondered around the castle`s corridors admiring the sculptures on the snow walls. SnowCastle mascots also brought joy to all children.

The history of Finland walks hand in hand with winter. Inhabiting one of the northernmost countries in the world, Finns have learned to endure the snowy and ice conditions. The SnowCastle welcomes visitors from all over the world to admire this Winter wonderland  – totally made of the sea water. Here tourists can enjoy the Finnish tastes in the SnowRestaurant where the meal is set to the ice tables, and experience the famous Finnish gut – sisu- by staying overnight in the award winning SnowHotel. The SnowHotel won two prizes in the World Luxury Hotel Awards 2016. It is the Golbal Winner as a Bespoken Luxury Experience and a country winner as a Ecofriendly hotel.

The world’s largest SnowRestaurant is more than 70 metres long ans seats 250 guests. The SnowChapel with mystical atmosphere is a memorable venue for wedding ceremonies also for several couples this year. All is made entirely of snow and ice from the sea water. The SnowCastle is a highly unique venue for visitors offering various activities in the weekly programme and fun snow slide and this year a labyrinth made of ice for children.
