After long wait, India and Indonesia linked by direct flights

After a long wait, finally Garuda, the Indonesian airline, has started flights linking Mumbai with Jakarta, via Bangkok.

The three-times-a-week service is operated by a B737 and the service may be made direct, if the launch experience is positive.

India and Indonesia have long cultural and political ties, but so far there were no direct flights between the two large Asian nations.

Indonesia has a Visit Indonesia Tourist Office in India, and has been promoting tourism from India. The new service will help boost travel.
