A passenger plane has crashed at an airport in Wau, South Sudan, with local reports saying injured people have been rushed to hospital.
“No one died, but there are a number of injured people right now,” one of the local aid workers near the crash scene told Reuters.
Little is known of the cause of the crash and the exact number of injuries has not been confirmed so far.
The South Supreme Airlines plane crash-landed on the runway of Wau Airport on Monday, with photos of the wreckage quickly being shared by witnesses on social media. Images from the scene show the smoking charred wreckage of the plane fuselage and the intact tail.
While all 44 passengers onboard were initially feared killed, some local reports say that nine people have been pulled from the wreckage alive and transported to a hospital.
The flight was traveling to Wau from the South Sudanese capital, Juba, a local official told the BBC.
