Police responding to active shooter alert at YouTube headquarters

Police, SWAT teams, and helicopters are responding to an alert that there is an active shooter at YouTube headquarters in San Bruno, California.

Some employees have been able to leave the building, exiting with their hands in their air. Others are tweeting about hiding after hearing gunshots.

The San Bruno police confirmed only that they are responding, but no clear details other than that are available at this moment. They are advising people to stay away from Cherry Avenue and Bay Hill Drive.

Google sent out a tweet saying it is “coordinating with authorities and will provide official information here from Google and YouTube as it becomes available.” Google owns YouTube.

A law enforcement source not authorized to speak publicly reported that at least 2 people have been shot.
