Second fire destroys Kyamabura Game Lodge

Similar to a fire in February 2012, when a raging bush-fire could not be stopped by lodge staff and four cottages caught fire and burned down, did last night once again such an inferno break out.

This time, reportedly, all 8 cottages of the lodge burned down as did the reception, bar, restaurant and other buildings, leading to a suspension of operations at the lodge.

After the 2012 incident did allegations emerge that the fire was laid by park officials, something UWA denied at the time but the repeat of the same situation, with worse consequences, will no doubt lead to a fuller investigation as to who or what caused the wildfire, which, driven by strong winds, then reached the lodge and caused it to burn down.

TripAdvisor has the lodge listed as number 22 or 32 properties of this kind in the area.

Uganda is now just a month away from hosting nearly 100 international buyers and travel media personnel for the third edition of the Pearl of Africa Travel Expo in Kampala, which will take place between the 17th and 19th of February.
