Seychelles Tourism minister commends Beau Vallon hoteliers for quality services and products

The Minister for Tourism, Civil Aviation, Ports and Marine Maurice Loustau-Lalanne said it is pleasing to see how tourism operators are putting great effort to upgrade and offer good services and products in the industry.

He said this while speaking to the local press last Friday after visiting several tourism properties in the northern part of Mahe.

Minister Loustau-Lalanne was accompanied on his visit by the principal secretary for tourism Anne Lafortune.

They visited eight properties in the Beau Vallon district, starting at the Berjaya Beau Vallon Bay hotel which is being managed by Pravir Mishra.

The 232-room hotel has been in operation for over 42 years and is now in the process of renovating some of its rooms.

Minister Loustau-Lalanne was given a tour of the establishment and had the chance to visit the rooms which are being renovated. He also met members of the management team and were briefed on the main challenges of the hotel.

The next tourism establishment visited was the Augerine small hotel owned by Andiana Hoareau. Augerine is a beachfront property which is made up of 15 rooms – three junior rooms and 12 standard ones.

The hotel offers breakfast and dinner to its clients which is mostly from the French market.

Speaking to the local media, Minister Loustau-Lalanne said the aim of visiting these properties across the country is to familiarise himself with the tourism industry as it has been more than six years since he has not been working in this sector.

Minister Loustau-Lalanne said he is impressed with the quality of products that are available in our tourism industry.

He saluted the workers of Berjaya Beau Vallon Bay hotel who have been working at the establishment for over the four decades that it has been operating.

He also commended the hotel for giving the guests a taste of our Creole culture, which he added that should be highly encouraged.

Coral Strand Smart Choice Hotel was next on the list. The hotel has been around for a little over four decades as well and is headed by Denis Verkhorubov.

Another property visited was Sables D’Or Luxury Apartment which is situated close to Coral Strand Smart Choice Hotel. It is owned by Vicky Lanza and has been in operation since 2013. It is made up of three two-bedroom apartments and a one-bedroom apartment.

Romance Bungalows, The Beach House, Georgina’s Cottage, Hanneman Holiday Residence were the four other establishments visited by the minister and Mrs Lafortune.

The owners of these properties have raised several issues which they said are affecting their businesses. These include lack of streets lights, loud music, stray dogs, black gnats and speeding.
