South African Airways salutes Ghana’s 60th Independence Day

In celebration of Ghana’s 60th anniversary of independence, South African Airways (SAA) is offering a special sale fare from Washington Dulles International Airport to Accra, Ghana. Travel on this fare is applicable from February 20 to March 30, 2017, to allow travelers to spend the Independence Day holiday period with family and friends in Ghana.

The Republic of Ghana declared its independence from the United Kingdom on March 6, 1957 and was the first country in Africa to establish a democratic government. For the past 60 years, Ghanaians celebrate Independence Day every March 6, as a day to commemorate the sacrifices that were made to achieve freedom, to strengthen democratic ideals, and to reflect on the country’s success in fostering equality.

“The Independence Day holiday celebrates the end of over 100 years of colonial rule and is a time for the people of Ghana to reflect on their many endeavors to achieve democracy,” said Todd Neuman, executive vice president, the Americas, for South African Airways. “On this special holiday, Ghanaians honor the strides that have been achieved to insure an independent government and a better life for all.  As one of the largest airlines on the African continent, we are proud to help celebrate Ghana’s Independence Day and salute the country’s accomplishments by inviting travelers to visit family and friends with this special fare.”

Tickets must be purchased by February 10, 2017, so travelers should hurry and book by visiting www.flysaa.com or calling SAA Reservations at 1-(800) 722-9675.
