Tourism industry of Seychelles supports Alain St.Ange as islands’ candidate for post of Secretary General of UNWTO

The Seychelles Hospitality and Tourism Association (SHTA) has endorsed Alain St.Ange as the Seychelles candidate for the post of Secretary General of the UNWTO (United Nations World Tourism Organization).

A letter of endorsement was forwarded to the former Tourism Minister St.Ange by Sybille Cardon, the Chairperson of the Association, to express their support and endorsement.

The decision to support Alain St.Ange was taken at the last Executive Board Meeting of the Association following a resolution taken at their Executive Board Meeting.

In their letter of endorsement, Mrs. Cardon says that Alain St.Ange as Minister has been a good facilitator for the cause of tourism and that he remained an advocate for the public/private sector partnership that exists in the country.

Members of the islands’ tourism industry also organized a farewell cocktail some two weeks ago at the Avani Barbarons Hotel saying that this was an opportunity to say thank you to their former Minister.

Alain St.Ange was very thankful for this endorsement, saying that the recognition and words of appreciation were indeed good to hear. “The SHTA are part of the front-line team of our industry and have their finger on the pulse always. We worked well for many many years together, and I say a big thank you to Madame Cardon and the Association for their letter of endorsement,” said Alain St.Ange.

Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles former Minister for Tourism, Civil Aviation, Ports and Marine, is a candidate fighting for the post of Secretary General of the UNWTO, and he is currently in Madrid to officially lodge his bid as the Seychelles candidate for the elections that are set to take place in Madrid in May this year.
