Gulf Air backs Skal Asian Area Congress

Gulf Air is backing the 2017 Skal Asian Area Annual Congress and General Assembly in Bahrain with a generous 30 percent discount on flights to Bahrain for all delegates. All Skal members and their guests attending the 46th Asian Area Congress receive a dedicated discount code. The code applies to selected fares in economy and business class available on the Gulf Air website.

“This is a fantastic gesture by Bahrain’s national carrier and it reflects the importance of our forthcoming Congress in a tourism destination that is growing in popularity year after year,” said Skal Asian Area President Robert Sohn.

Visa charges have also been waived for all Skal delegates attending the Congress that register before April 30.

The Congress takes place on May 12-15 at the Gulf hotel in Bahrain. Guest speakers at the Congress on Saturday 13 May include Shaikh Khaled bin Humood Al Khalifa, Chief Executive of the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibition Authority. Other distinguished speakers include David Fisher, newly-elected President of Skal International, and Skal Bahrain President Mohamed Buzizi.

Official statistics shared by Huda Yousuf Al Hamar, Bahrain’s Chief of Tourism Planning, show that the number of tourist arrivals grew by 5.2 percent in 2016 to 10.2 million.

“There is growing interest in the heritage, history, culture and cuisine that makes Bahrain such a special destination,” explained Mohamed Buzizi. “The forthcoming Skal Asian Area Congress provides a wonderful opportunity for travel and tourism industry leaders from influential source markets in the Asia Pacific region to experience the many wonders of Bahrain.

Our program includes a B2B market place where leading Bahrain travel industry operators will enjoy opportunities to network, to market their products and to contract business with overseas delegates. We expect this Congress to provide a significant boost to our country’s tourism profile,” he added.

“We are also very grateful to Shaikh Khaled for personally arranging the cost-free visas for our Skal visitors but I must stress the importance of submitting passport details to the Congress Secretariat before 30 April in order to take advantage of the complimentary visa facility kindly arranged by the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibition Authority.”
