Leonardo’s genius captures Milan at BIT 2018

An installation project has been designed to showcase Leonardo’s work thanks to the contribution of the city’s main cultural institutions with ties to the artist:  Sforza Castle, the Cenacolo Vinciano Museum, the Ambrosian Library and Art Gallery, the National Leonardo da Vinci Museum of Science and Technology, and the Fondazione Stelline Congress Centre.

In view of the 5th centenary in 2019, the Municipality of Milan, with its “Leonardesque” partners, is cementing its status as a popular destination with a spectacular installation, comprising some of Leonardo da Vinci’s celebrated inventions.

A BIT OF TASTE, A JOURNEY INTO THE WORLD OF FOOD

Food & Wine tourism will be the focus of the area organized by the APCI at Bit 2018. Regions, foreign countries, emerging talents and starred chefs will be taking it in turns to spotlight the very best in cuisine, as an essential driver of tourism.

From the 11th to the 13th of February, there will be a firm focus on national and international cuisine, an essential driver of development within the tourist industry. For the second consecutive edition, Bit – International Tourism Exchange, scheduled to take place at fieramilano city and the MiCo, will host a themed section dedicated to the ever-important Food & Wine tourism segment. The APCI – Professional Association of Italian Cooks will once again be organizing the various events and opportunities for discussion that will characterize this space.

In fact, the A Bit of Taste area will be home to various opportunities for training, discussion, show-cooking events, networking and learning. The kitchen will see cooks hailing from both Italian regions and foreign countries take to the stage in turns. With the support of the APCI Chef Italia National Team, they will be proposing traditional recipes using local products, thereby demonstrating how the promotion of Food & Wine traditions is increasingly constituting one of the main driving forces behind the tourism industry.

The A Bit of Taste space will also be staging the “Young Chef Mystery Team – Bring Your Talent,” we’ll sort the teams’ initiative intended for young chefs between 20 and 30 years of age, who will have to showcase their talent and professionalism with a team and a selection of ingredients, which will be revealed to them there and then as part of the contest. The aim of the project is to showcase the culinary talents, leadership skills and ability to work as a team required of each and every chef. 18 cooks will make it through to the final before being divided into six teams, each with the support of students from a Hotelier School of reference during the service. A panel of well-respected judges will crown the winning team, with the triumphant participants being sent to Ireland to take part in a training and Food & Wine course.
