Zimbabwe Tourism and its role in the International Coalition of Tourism Partners

With close to 1000 key tourism stakeholders and destinations in 153 countries, the International Coalition of Tourism Partners has been a force for Green Growth PLUS Quality EQUALS Business.

ICTP is active in Zimbabwe.  Zimbabwe is a landlocked country in southern Africa known for its dramatic landscape and diverse wildlife, much of it within parks, reserves and safari areas. On the Zambezi River, Victoria Falls make a thundering 108m drop into narrow Batoka Gorge, where there’s white-water rafting and bungee jumping. Downstream are Matusadona and Mana Pools national parks, home to hippos, rhinos and birdlife.

Mzembi

The Hon. Dr. Walter Mzembi, Ph.D., has been the current Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry for the Republic of Zimbabwe since 2009. He has also been a member of Parliament for the Masvingo South Constituency since 2004 and the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Regional Commission for Africa Chairperson from 2013, and recently joined the campaign to become the next secretary general of UNWTO. His experience in the world of tourism includes such international positions as Chairman of the Southern Africa Development Community Committee of Tourism Ministers in 2015, The Hon. Walter Mzembi is a member of the ICTP expert group and the Zimbabwe Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry is an ICTP destination member.

As a private stakeholder Premdest Africa Ltd in Harare, Zimbabwe is among the members based in Zimbabwe. The company has operational bases in Victoria Falls, Harare, Bulawayo, Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe, Livingstone Zambia and Chobe National Park in Botswana. This is a ‘One Stop Shop’ that offers all tourism and travel services under one roof. RETOSA, the Regional tourism Organization of Southern Africa is and Turkish Airlines is among members in Zimbabwe.

Set up by ICTP founding members Juergen Steinmetz, Hawaii; Professor Geoffrey Lipman, Belgium, Alain St.Ange, Seychelles, and Feisol Hashim, Bali the International Coalition of Tourism Partners relies on input by their prestigious Council Group including eTurboNews, the Seychelles Ministry of Tourism, the SUN Program, Caribbean Tourism Organization, Brand USA, International Institute for Peace Through Tourism, among many others.

Basic membership the Coalition is complimentary but the financial support of industry sponsors, members and projects is essential.
