The United States (US) has around 1.3 million Greeks living in America, with the bulk of that population calling New York City (NYC)home. So when it’s time for them to travel, that’s a big slice of for the airline industry, and Emirates intends to capitalize on that market.
The airline has just announced it will begin flying between Athens and John F. Kennedy International Airport in NYC on March 12 of this year. The Greek government and Athens International Airport had filed a formal request with Emirates for this type of service, and the airlines responded.
Emirates first flew to and from Athens in June 1996.
